Summer Lessons Begin June 23rd

Monday, June 15, 2020 by Paula Augustine | Studio Information

Hopefully everyone's summer is going well. I am so grateful for the beautiful summer days we have been able to enjoy. I am looking forward to seeing everyone again.

  • The summer session will begin next week, June 23rd. Some of you have signed up and are ready to go.
  • Payment for the summer is due the first lesson attending.
  • If you prefer zoom/facetime lessons just let me know and I will make the adjustment on the lesson.

Over the summer students will have the opportunity to complete the chord and improv challenge. Just a sneak peak - we will learn how to use garage band on the ipad to create backing tracks.

If you would like to take advantage of taking a few lessons over the next 6 weeks please sign up for times that are available on the calendar or contact me and we can get you registered. Just a recap. You can sign up for as many lessons, or as few lessons, as you would like. I will be teaching Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays at the church or online with zoom/facetime. You will receive a text the day of the lesson as a reminder just as you do during the regular semester.

Fall lessons will begin the week of August 17. Register soon to secure your time, all lesson times are open in the fall. Registration fee is $25 or a max of $45 per family. Registration fees will be invoiced and due by July 3rd to keep your lesson time secured.

I hope everyone enjoys the remainder of the summer! Get out and enjoy the sunshine.

Lesson Options after spring break

Monday, March 23, 2020 by Paula Augustine | Studio Information

Now that spring break is over, I will continue teaching through the end of the semester. I will need to hear from everyone their plans to continue this semester through.

Due to the Covid-19 and trying to follow the government recommendations for social distancing and staying home as much as possible I will be offering online lessons as an option. Since lessons are less than 10 people and we meet in the church building, which is not being used, I will continue teaching in person as well.

  1. If you want to continue lessons online during this social distancing time please contact me as soon as possible. I will make the updates and prepare for your online lesson time.
  2. Since we are now home all day if you would like to change your lesson time to an earlier time I can accommodate this. Please let me know as soon as possible. If the social distancing lifts we will go back to your normal lesson time.

I hope all goes well and we can continue our journey! Everyone has been progressing well and I hope to not interrupt teaching too much with the changes. I do know may students will need things to do at home and may even be able to devote more time to practicing and might advance faster than usual. This is a great opportunity to take advantage.

Group Classes Fall Semester

Monday, July 22, 2019 by Paula Augustine | Studio Information

This fall the group classes will become more standardized. All Group classes are at no extra charge and part of the 16 week semester fees. Get these on your calendar and plan to attend as many as you can.

Group classes will be in the calendar section of the website and you can sign up to attend or simply let me know and I will sign up students. It is nice for my planning to know how many students will be able to attend each group class. Of course, I would like it if students can attend the entire group class time, but if students need to arrive late or leave early that can be worked around, please let me know ahead of time. I understand everyone will not be able to make all group classes.

  • Back to Music Group class, Tuesday, August 6, 2019 1:00-3:00pm -  The first group class of each semester will focus on our music history era for the semester, students will get to know each other, play musical games, and have a snack while listening to a story about a composer. Fall semester 2019 we will be focusing on the Romantic era of music history and we will learn about Chopin in the group class.
  • Community Sharing music with area home. October TBA(7-11), 2019 2:00pm - Since we follow the Elizabethton School Schedule we will have our fall break from regular lessons the same time, but students will have a chance to play at a local assisted living home.  These Community sharing times are a big part of the studio's focus, students learn how to give back to the community using their talents.
  • Studio Class, Tuesday, November 26, 4:00-5:30pm  - This is the week of Thanksgiving break. There are no regular lessons the week of Thanksgiving break. Studio class will focus on students playing for each other and the listeners practicing "Active Listening" as well as practicing supporting each other through helpful commenting. We will also revisit the historical time period and have group games.

Spring Semester we will also have these same three group classes. I look forward to a great year of lessons and creating a great community of families in the studio.
