Symphony of the Mountains - Woodwind Quintet and Jazz Quartet

Symphony of the Mountains’ Woodwind Quintet will play works by Gunther Schuller and Appalachian music by regional composer Greg Danner followed by the delightfully intriguing Suite for Cello and Jazz Piano Trio by Claude Bolling.
ETSU Marching Band - Friday's at Borchuck Plaza
Free
Every Friday evening from 3:30-4:00 pm
The ETSU Marching bands will be performing short outdoor concerts from 3:30-4:00 at Borchick Plaza. Parking can be difficult but usually Friday afternoons are not bad.

Listening Assignment 2 - Fall 2020
This month we are focusing on Beethoven's works. Make sure you have a few minutes to listen to one of these pieces. Many of Beethoven's great works are quite long. You can choose to listen to all the pieces below or just listen to the one selection for your instrument. I have also included a piano concerto at the end played by an orchestra and a 12 year old pianist.
Beethoven, Piano Sonata no 8, op 13 "Pathetique" performed by Daniel Barenboim
Beethoven Variations on Mozart's "Là ci darem la mano" for Flute, Clarinet and Bassoon
Here is this variations based on a theme Mozart originally wrote. Beethoven grew up playing many of Mozart's piano pieces. There is a rumor that Beethoven met Mozart in Vienna when he was around 17, but it cannot be verified. It would have been a couple of years before Mozart passed away. Beethoven respected Mozart's music and used his themes in other music he composed.
