Listening Assignment 2 - Fall 2020
This month we are focusing on Beethoven's works. Make sure you have a few minutes to listen to one of these pieces. Many of Beethoven's great works are quite long. You can choose to listen to all the pieces below or just listen to the one selection for your instrument. I have also included a piano concerto at the end played by an orchestra and a 12 year old pianist.
Beethoven, Piano Sonata no 8, op 13 "Pathetique" performed by Daniel Barenboim
Beethoven Variations on Mozart's "Là ci darem la mano" for Flute, Clarinet and Bassoon

There is a rumor that Beethoven met Mozart in Vienna when he was around 17, but it cannot be verified. It would have been a couple of years before Mozart passed away. Beethoven respected Mozart's music and used his themes in other music he composed.
Beethoven, Piano Concerto
